Patentable Subject Matter Webinar Series Continues on November 5

Join me for the next installment of my continuing webinar series on patentable subject matter (since the Supreme Court’s 2014 Alice decision). Due to popular demand, this is the fifth webinar this year.

Computer-Related and AI Inventions: Avoiding Patent Eligibility and Means-Plus-Function Traps

Thursday, November 5, 2026
1:00 PM ET / 10:00 AM PT
90 minutes | 1.5 CLE credits (most states)

Join me and Robert Bahr (former Deputy Commissioner for Patent Examination Policy at the USPTO) as we address the Section 101 and Section 112(f) traps that arise when patenting computer-related inventions, with a particular focus on AI and machine learning.

We’ll examine how the Federal Circuit has applied the Electric Power Group framework to invalidate AI and machine-learning patents, along with practical drafting strategies for both the specification and claims that improve the chances of satisfying the Alice two-step test and avoiding unintentional means-plus-function treatment.
